Hello,
Trying to add the “OAuth Redirect URL” to my Google account (Create OAuth client ID), always facing this error, I’m using N8N cloud, tried more than Google account all with the same error. Also, tried 2 different N8N instance account, both are the same
The error you are seeing is actually coming from Google’s own settings page, not from n8n. It is a generic message that simply means Google’s system encountered a glitch and couldn’t save the changes you were trying to make to your OAuth client.
The most common cause is being logged into multiple Google accounts in the same browser. This often confuses the Google Cloud Console and causes it to fail. The fastest fix is to open an Incognito or Private window and log into only the one account you need for this setup.
If that doesn’t work, your browser might have stored old or corrupted data that is interfering with the page. Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, or switching to a completely different web browser (like moving from Chrome to Firefox), can often clear this up.
Browser extensions can also be the culprit. Tools like ad-blockers or privacy shields sometimes accidentally block the “save” command that the Google Console sends to its servers. Try disabling your extensions or using a guest profile to see if the error disappears.
You should also double-check your settings for small mistakes. Ensure that you have selected “Web application” as the application type and that there are no accidental spaces at the beginning or end of the Redirect URL when you paste it.
Lastly, your internet connection or security software could be the problem. If you are using a VPN or a strict corporate firewall, it might be blocking the request. Try switching to a different network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if that allows the settings to save.
@Halwa welcome to the n8n community
I recommend undoing what was done and redoing the connection setup step by step, it’s important to differentiate between the platform connection and the user. Follow the documentation shared by Anshul.
I am havinh the same issue. This is frustrating. That is such a basic step, Google Apps and N8N connection.I could add credentials using the same callback ID. now also I am getting this unknown, useless error message. I really need help, solving these little problem. The solutions offered are not helpful.
