Changed host name of VPS, can not log in

I just changed my host name for my VPS in hostinger and now I can not log into my server. I tried changing it back to the original one and does not work. How can I solve this issue?

Hi @Dexiuzhan,

Are you sure you set N8N_HOST correctly after updating it with the latest value from Hostinger?

Also, what do you mean by “does not work”? Do you mean you can’t access your n8n instance?

As i changed the host name, when I try to enter in my n8n server, it says that it can not find the server’s IP address and that it can not access the website

Yes, try to find where to set the Environment Variables in Hostinger,
You probably need to update the host there after you changed it..

Where and how can i do that? I am a bit lost

Hmm, are you able to log in to your server via SSH?
How do you usually upgrade n8n, for example?

By the way, I also found this link you can try:

I am not sure how to do that. I dont have a domain to change it to. Is there a simple way to do it? I installed n8n last week, so I am pretty new to this.

The domain is the “host name”, Follow the steps in that link using the new host name you set..
Also if there’s a “restart” option in Hostinger for the VPS, you can try that as well, they might have an auto-linking feature.

It mentions that I need to purchase a domain, but I dont have any domains in hostinger. Is there another way to do it?

Skip the domain step and start at Step 2.

You only need to enter the new hostname you set there.

Before that, try restarting the VPS first to see if it starts working again.

I did everything unti step 5 and restarted the VPS, but still gives me an error. I changed my host name to the original one that they gave me. So it is a similar domain to SXXXX.hstgr.cloud. For step 6, i just restarted the VPS as i was not sure what it meant, could you clarify what it means or did I do the step correctly?

Great,
Before you reach step 5, is this value:
DOMAIN_NAME=srvXXXX.hstgr.cloud
the same as the one you changed?

Please use the exact value you changed previously, and restart the server again.

I did that and restarted, and black screen stating “bad gateway” shows up.

Actually it’s working

n8n.srv968941.hstgr.cloud

please try refresh again!

omg, thank you so much! it worked!

wow nice
okay, can you please mark my post as the solution, thanks and have a nice day!
