Exploramos tres métodos de instalación para n8n:

La razón por la que probablemente encontraste Docker «no compatible» es que Windows Server 2019 usa por defecto Contenedores de Windows, pero n8n requiere Contenedores de Linux.

  • Para que Docker funcione en Windows Server 2019, debes habilitar el rol Hyper-V e instalar Docker Desktop (o configurar Docker Engine para ejecutar contenedores de Linux a través de una VM).
  • Advertencia: Esto es significativamente más complejo y consume más recursos que simplemente usar una VM con Linux.

Ya que estás en Azure, la forma más profesional y estable de ejecutar n8n es en una VM Ubuntu en lugar de Windows Server.

n8n está diseñado nativamente para Linux. En una VM Ubuntu, puedes tenerlo funcionando en 5 minutos usando Docker, y evitarás todos los dolores de cabeza asociados con las «Herramientas de compilación de C++» de Windows.

  • Configuración de Azure: Crea una nueva VM → Imagen: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
  • Instalación: Solo ejecuta el comando Docker de la documentación de n8n. Este es el estándar de la industria para alojar n8n por tu cuenta.

Hola @vijaybh, ambos caminos que mencionaste arriba son sólidos. Una cosa que nos ayudaría a identificar dónde están fallando npx/npm es que compartas los mensajes de error exactos que viste. Las instalaciones de npm en Windows Server a menudo fallan por falta de C++ Build Tools (necesarias para módulos nativos de node), que es una solución diferente a un problema de versión de Node.js.

Ejecuta esto y comparte el resultado:

node --version

npm --version

npm install -g n8n --verbose 2>&1 | Select-String "error"

Eso nos dirá exactamente dónde está fallando y si el enfoque de Swapnil solo necesita una corrección adicional para funcionar en tu configuración.

Desactiva strict SSL para npm (Ejecuta esto en tu símbolo del sistema):

npm config set strict-ssl false

Limpia la caché de npm:

npm cache clean --force

Intenta instalar n8n nuevamente:

npm install n8n -g
