Feedback wanted: draft-only lead follow-up workflow pattern for small service businesses

Hi n8n community — I’m testing a small beta workflow pattern for small service businesses: inbound lead → n8n classification/normalization → Google Sheets CRM row → AI reply draft → follow-up date, with human review before anything is sent.

I’m looking for critique from n8n users before promoting it more widely:

1. Is draft-only the right safety default for SMB lead follow-up?

2. Is Google Sheets enough for a v0.2 CRM/store, or would Airtable/HubSpot be expected?

3. What import/setup step usually breaks for less technical buyers?

4. Any n8n workflow-structure or documentation conventions I should improve?

Disclosure: this is intended to become/continue as a paid beta kit, not a managed n8n service. I’m deliberately keeping this post feedback-first and not linking the product unless that’s useful/allowed.

Thanks Haian — appreciate the pointers. I’ll use those as the baseline for framing/docs.

The part I’m trying to tighten is less “what can CRM automation do?” and more “what should a non-technical small-business buyer see first so import/setup feels safe?”

If you have a strong opinion: would a no-credentials demo workflow + Google Sheet template be enough before trying it, or would you expect screenshots/video walkthrough first?

For a non-technical buyer, I would start with a no-credentials demo workflow + Google Sheet template. That feels like a safe first try and keeps the setup lightweight.

That said, I think a short screenshot walkthrough or a very brief video would help even more, because it makes the import/setup path feel less risky for people who are not used to n8n yet.

So my view is:
(demo + template is a good baseline)
(screenshots - video are the extra layer that makes the offer much easier to trust).

Happy to share more thoughts if useful.

Thanks — this is useful and pretty much confirms the direction I was leaning toward. I tightened the first-run path around “copy the Sheet → run the no-credentials demo → inspect the row/draft/follow-up date → then connect credentials.”

I also agree on screenshots/video as the trust layer. Next thing I’ll polish is a very short walkthrough that shows the output before showing any credential setup.
