# Hotel Chatbot Booking Flow: stuck with Check Room Availability, Log to Google Sheets, and Send Confirmation

I’m building a hotel chatbot that collects guest booking details, checks availability using my AvailabilityChecker node, updates room stock, appends confirmed bookings to Google Sheets, and sends confirmations via WhatsApp and email. Right now, I’m stuck in the booking flow because I don’t know how to properly connect the steps so that once a user enters their check-in and check-out dates, the system first checks availability and only records the booking if a room is available. So far, I’ve managed to log booking data directly into Google Sheets, but I haven’t figured out how to make the AI agent check availability before saving the booking.

The fix is an IF node right after your AvailabilityChecker, with the Sheets write moved to _after_ it. From your flow it looks like the booking gets appended to the sheet regardless of the availability result, which is why it saves even when it shouldn’t.

Wire it like this: AvailabilityChecker returns available or not, then an IF node branches on that result. The true branch does the Google Sheets append and the WhatsApp/email confirmation. The false branch sends a “those dates aren’t available” reply and stops. Nothing touches the sheet unless the IF passes.

The thing that trips people up on the AI-agent version: don’t rely on the agent to decide whether to save. Let the agent collect the dates and run the availability check, but do the actual gating with a real IF node in the workflow. Agents are unreliable at “only do X if Y,” so keep that logic as deterministic nodes, not a prompt instruction.

One more: if your AvailabilityChecker reads room stock from the same Google Sheet you’re writing to, make sure that read runs before the write and returns a clean true/false you can branch on. If it’s returning the whole row or an ambiguous value, the IF has nothing solid to test and it’ll pass through either way.
