How Do I Fix QuickBooks Error 30159

I accidentally deleted one of the ENIs. Whenever I try to open the company file, I get QuickBooks error 30159 with an error message saying, “We’re having a problem verifying your account status.” Can someone please assist me in fixing error 30159?

Hey @Peter_Adams,

Are you seeing that error in n8n? It sounds like you might have to change something in Quickbooks to get it working again.

Hi @Peter_Adams

Before finding a solution, please know that the deleted EIN triggered the error you encountered and prevented you from opening the company file. However, any damage or corruption to Paysub.ini can trigger QuickBooks error code 30159. So, you first need to fix the issue with this Windows file, which is crucial to running any QuickBooks operations.

Let’s fix the issues with the Paysub.ini file by renaming it:

  1. Press the Window + E keys together on your keyboard.
  2. From the top menu bar, click View and select hover your key to Show.
    Further, choose Hidden items.
  3. In the Windows Explorer, find the Paysub.ini file. If you didn’t see the file, look for it in the Hidden items.
  4. Right-click the file and select Rename. Now, change the file name and add the .OLD extension at the end.
  5. Once done, save the changes, retry to access the company file, and run your payroll.

Note: You also need to make sure the payroll subscription is active, as inactive subscriptions can cause QuickBooks error 30159.

If renaming the Paysub.ini file and verifying the payroll subscription don’t fix error code 30159 in QuickBooks, review the article linked above.
