How do you get your data out of N8N Cloud?

I’m curious how other n8n users handle exporting their data — mainly text and images — from the platform.

On my local self-hosted setup, I’ve done this by writing workflow output to local storage and also using Google Drive to save files in markdown format. That works great for self-hosted because I can directly access the files.

But on n8n Cloud, I haven’t found a straightforward way to download files or export workflow-generated content in bulk.

Questions for you all:

How are you exporting or backing up your data from n8n Cloud?

Are you using any workarounds, like sending data to third-party storage (S3, Drive, Dropbox, etc.)?

Any tips for handling images specifically?

Would love to hear how others are solving this — maybe I’m missing an obvious approach.

I would either:

  • Save workflow outputs to a database or storage node during execution. Then scheduled workflows can query that storage and iterate over the saved items/files.

OR

  • Alternatively, use the n8n REST API to fetch past execution JSON outputs and process them programmatically. Binary files will still need to be stored externally (Drive, S3, etc..)

Hey @ni_Dev on n8n Cloud your best bet is to push outputs directly to external storage like S3, Google Drive, or Dropbox within the workflow itself that way you bypass the platform’s file access limits and have a clean, downloadable archive of both text and images

Thanks a lot
