The idea is:
To integrate a built-in AI assistant directly within the n8n platform that can understand context and provide intelligent, real-time support to users as they build workflows.
My use case:
While n8n is already a powerful and intuitive low-code automation tool, there are frequent situations where users — especially newer ones — have to search the forum, documentation, or external sources to get help with specific nodes, use cases, or best practices.
For example:
- Understanding how a specific node works in a certain context
- Figuring out which nodes to chain together for a goal
- Troubleshooting errors or unexpected workflow behavior
A built-in AI assistant could eliminate the friction of leaving the platform to search for answers.
I think it would be beneficial to add this because:
- It will streamline the workflow-building experience by providing contextual guidance in real-time.
- It will reduce dependency on external searches, documentation, or forum threads.
- It will empower both new and experienced users to solve problems faster.
- It enhances n8n’s value as a complete, user-friendly automation platform.
This kind of support would not only save time but also help users better understand the logic behind workflows and nodes.
Any resources to support this?
While not specific to n8n, many modern platforms are adopting embedded AI assistants for in-app guidance (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Notion AI, Zapier AI). A similar implementation tailored to n8n’s workflow-building context would be incredibly valuable.
