Is n8n free or paid

Hello,
another beginner question: I hosted n8n with a provider. I thought n8n was free, so I haven’t really done much with it yet, and I don’t know much about it. Now I’m getting the message:

“Your trial has ended – but you have 90 days to recover your workflows.
:warning: After that, your data will be deleted and can’t be recovered. If you want to keep your workflows, you can either upgrade to a paid plan or download them…”

Does this mean that n8n is actually paid?
Just to note: I’m not looking for “cheap” on the internet. I have a paid account with ChatGPT. If n8n is paid, I’ll leave it alone for now.
Thanks for your answers.

P.S.: From what I’m reading around here, it should be free. In that case, though, I don’t understand the message. Thanks.

n8n cloud is not free. Majority of self-hosted n8n is free.

Thanks. I’m hosting n8n at “https://serverdiscounter.com/”. Thanks for the link. I’ll take a look at it, then I’ll know more.

Take note majority of n8n is free, hosting is not though

Hi @Frieder
That trial notice is coming from your host, serverdiscounter.com, for the managed instance they run for you, it is not n8n itself charging you. n8n the software is free to self-host, so the key thing right now is to save your workflows before the 90 days run out: open each one, click the three dots at the top right of the editor, and choose Download to get a JSON file. You can import those files into your own n8n instance later, nothing is lost.

That’s interesting. Then I’ll first check my provider’s homepage to see if there’s anything about it. If not, I’ll just ask for the concrete meaning. Thanks.

Are you sure you are not using an n8n cloud trial account?

Google-Translate:

Good question. I signed up with serverdiscounter and installed n8n. Then I connected one or more apps, during which process I was redirected to other sites. Something might have happened there, but I can’t find a web address for it. However, since I haven’t done anything significant yet, I’m just going to wait and see; I’m assuming n8n is running on serverdiscounter and that I’ll be working exclusively there from now on. Thanks.

Hi @Frieder That exact wording, “Your trial has ended, but you have 90 days to recover your workflows”, is n8n Cloud’s own trial-end message, not something serverdiscounter sends. During the app-connection step you were most likely redirected to n8n Cloud and a trial workspace was created there, separate from your serverdiscounter install, and that is where the workflows at risk are sitting.
Sign in with that same email at https://app.n8n.cloud/ to find the instance and its address. If you don’t remember the workspace URL, it’s in the n8n registration email from when the trial started (the address ends in .app.n8n.cloud).

Hello @Anshul_Namdev,
Thanks for the info. Your post clears things up for me. I’ll just sit tight for now and keep working with ServerDiscounter. My workflows weren’t error-free anyway, so it’s actually a good thing they’re being deleted.
Thanks.

@Frieder Hey, if any of my posts helped you, please consider marking that as a solution.
