I love n8n and want it to be successful. For my consulting projects, I would prefer to use n8n cloud (instead of self-hosting) so the n8n company benefits too! However, I’m unable to manage client projects on n8n cloud because, as an Admin for the client project, I cannot update the n8n version.
Short-term feature request: Enable project n8n version updates for project Admins.
Long-term feature request: Reconsider the cloud project setup from a consultant/client perspective. As a consultant, I’m recommending n8n and building/managing the project, but I’m not the “owner” nor am I paying the subscription. It’s unprofessional to ask clients to go into n8n to update software versions, and having an inconsistent billing setup is problematic.
This pattern is similar to large company setup, too, where an employee may sign up for a trial and need to invite a billing user to own the account.
Suggested long term solution: Make it easy for a consultant to create a project, invite a client to add billing info and be marked as “owner,” while the consultant remains as admin to manage the project.
