Make Enter = Send and Shift+Enter = New Line (or give us a setting in Workflow Chat)

Hi n8n team :waving_hand:

Love the workflow builder, but the Workflow Chat keyboard mapping trips me up daily: Shift+Enter sends the message. In most chat tools (ChatGPT, Slack, Teams), the convention is:

  • Enter → Send

  • Shift+Enter → New line

Because it’s flipped in n8n, I keep sending half-written messages when I just want a line break.

Request

  • Preferred: Align with common UX: Enter = Send, Shift+Enter = New Line

  • Alternative: Add a setting to choose the behavior

Why it matters

  • Consistency: Matches widespread muscle memory

  • Fewer mistakes: Avoids accidental sends

  • Smoother writing: Easier multi-line prompts without breaking flow

Thanks for considering—this small tweak would remove a lot of daily friction.
