Here a summery of my chat with claude help:
Issue: n8n MCP connector completes OAuth successfully (shows success URL with server ID) but displays as “disconnected” in Claude.ai settings.
Troubleshooting Steps Attempted:
-
Removed all connections and restarted n8n server
-
Waited 30+ minutes before reconnecting
-
Used incognito mode and cleared cookies
-
Closed all Claude tabs and waited for auth state to clear
-
Tested with MCP Inspector tool - all tests passed with green status
Key Finding: Since MCP Inspector shows everything working correctly but Claude still shows disconnected, this confirms it’s a Claude-side sync issue rather than server configuration.
Root Cause: Known OAuth handshake completion issue where connection state doesn’t sync properly between OAuth flow and Claude’s connection management. This was working yesterday morning but broke after changing some settings, experimenting with cloudflare.
Suggested Workaround: Claude Desktop uses different connection architecture that avoids these session caching issues. RESULT >> Still not working. I’ve tried but still getting the same error.
Status: Anthropic help says engineering team is aware but no timeline provided for fix.
It was working fine yesterday until I started changing some cloudflare settings. I’ve restored everything to default, but still not working. Perhaps I will try different domain name?
Anyone else running into simmilar issues?
P.S. Just tested my setup with OpenAI ChatGPT, going into developer mode and creating an application. Works perfectly…
So it really is something on the Claude side ![]()
