Passing info to an Ai Agent Tool Chain

How do you pass information to a tool when using the AI Agent? I have an API to pull stock data but I need to pass the stock ticker to the api. I cant seem to get the AI Agent to pass anything down to the tool. I assume Im doing it wrong, can anyone assist me?
