The idea is:
When providing access to a node currently, it only allows providing access to the all the users. It does not allow sharing nodes with only certain set of user or user groups (for example, LDAP Group).
My use case:
Create a custom node that can be accessed only by the Finance Team members who are part of the a LDAP group created for the Finance team. A member not part of the group, when trying to search for the custom nodes for Finance, is not able to see the node.
I think it would be beneficial to add this because:
It improves security at an Enterprise level since custom nodes are the gateway to information. Security teams look for limiting node access. Having this feature allows organizations fine-tune the security.
