Questions about Terms & Data Handling for Self-Hosted Free Plan

Hi n8n community,

I’m new here and considering using n8n at my company. We’re planning to start with the self-hosted Free plan to test things out, but I’m a bit stuck on the legal/compliance side of things.

I’ve read through the main Terms of Service and the Sustainable Use License, but I’m not 100% sure how they apply to a self-hosted.

Could anyone clarify which documents are the correct ones for the self-hosted Free plan? I’m trying to find the official Terms and DPA for this specific setup.

My main questions are:

  1. For a self-hosted, does n8n (the company) have any technical access to the data we process in our workflows?
  2. If any data gets sent back to n8n, what kind of information is included, and how is it covered by a DPA?

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
