SMTP Outlook Error

Hello,

I am experiencing issues configuring my Outlook SMTP settings in n8n despite following all necessary steps. Here’s what I have done so far:

  1. Enabled IMAP and POP in my Outlook account.
  2. Activated Two-Step Verification and created an App Password for authentication.
  3. Configured an SMTP credential in n8n, using:
  • Email: my Outlook address
  • App Password
  • Port: 587
  • SSL/TLS: Disabled
  • STARTTLS: Enabled
  • Host: Tried both smtp-mail.outlook.com and smtp.office365.com

Despite this, I continuously receive the following error:

Couldn’t connect with these settings Invalid login: 535 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, basic authentication is disabled. [FR4P281CA0070.DEUP281.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM 2025-02-17T11:47:55.715Z 08DD4D35366FD225]

n8n version: It’s the main one on the website n8n, the official one I guess
Database: I am using n8n Cloud, so I am not managing a database.
n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting: I am not sure about this setting, as I am running n8n in the cloud. Could you clarify how to check it?
Running n8n via:** I am using n8n Cloud.
Operating system: Since this is running on n8n Cloud, I am not managing an OS directly.
Could you assist me in troubleshooting this issue?
