Support for Japanese fonts in Edit Image node on n8n Cloud

Add Japanese font support (such as Noto Sans JP) to the “Edit Image” node on n8n Cloud. Currently, any Japanese characters are displayed as tofu (□), making the node unusable for non-Latin languages.

My use case:

I’m using n8n Cloud to create dynamic images with automatically inserted text (e.g., project or artwork titles). Since the content is in Japanese, the Edit Image node cannot currently be used, and I must rely on third-party services like Placid or Bannerbear — which adds unnecessary cost and complexity.

I think it would be beneficial to add this because:

  • It enables basic use cases for Japanese-speaking users and anyone working with multilingual content.
  • It reduces dependency on paid external services for simple tasks like inserting text into an image.
  • Japanese is one of the most used languages on the internet — this support would improve accessibility and usability.

Any resources to support this?

Are you willing to work on this?

No, since I’m using n8n Cloud and cannot modify the runtime environment. But I would be happy to help test it once implemented.
