Unable to log in or create an account

Hey all, I’m having a tough time with my local n8n installation.

I am running n8n on TrueNAS core. I had it installed previously, but for an unrelated reason I had to delete it and reinstall. Since the reinstall, I can’t log in with my username and password as I’m being told the details are wrong (possibly is the case, though I did save the password in a password manage that I had been using successfully in the past).

Second to this, I tried to create a new account with a new email, but once I hit the create button, it just hangs with a spinning icon and never goes anywhere, so at this stage I’m essentially stuck and unable to use n8n.

I’ve tried setting everything up in its own container in dockge to isolate it from truenas (to be best of my unskilled abilities) but the result is the same.

I’ve tried to scour the forums and try what has been suggested but I haven’t had much luck.

Information on your n8n setup

  • n8n version: whatever is latest when I install through truenas.
  • Database (default: SQLite): Postgres
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main): assume default.
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): truenas app
  • Operating system: truenas

Hi,

Do you set the ENCRYPTION_KEY as an external environment variable?
