Apply for community license in airgapped env

Describe the problem/error/question

Is it possible to get a community license for a self-hosted instance in an airgapped environment without Internet access.

What is the error message (if any)?

I get this error when trying to apply for a license as the environment is airgapped:

License request failed

Failed to register community edition: getaddrinfo ENOTFOUND enterprise.n8n.io

Information on your n8n setup

  • **n8n version: 1.90.2
  • Database (default: SQLite):
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main):
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app):
  • Operating system:

Can you connect to the internet, get the code you need, then airgap again?

No unfortunately not, the environment can not be connected to the internet, not even for a short time due to security constraints.

I double checked with the team and you can’t use these licenses on a server that’s not connected to the internet.

Thank you for your answers

Does the same apply for enterprise license as well? Or is it possible to use an enterprise license or any other kind of license in environments without an internet connection? The environments that we are using are not connected to internet due to security restrictions per default.

For enterprise clients we can generate special license types that will work in an airgapped environment, but we do not offer these for the Community Edition.
