I’m building a commercial asset management platform to handle fund operations. To automate workflows, I’m planning to use n8n. Some of the planned use cases include user onboarding, mutual fund purchases, redemptions, and ticketing services — all for back-office operations. End users will not have any direct access to the n8n software. Given this setup, do I need to purchase an n8n license, or can I self-host the open-source version without any licensing costs? Please advise.

My honest Recommendation is to start with Open Source that’s if your budget is tight and your workflows are simple. Then, upgrade to Enterprise Later if you need:
- Support
- Compliance and
- User management
Let me know if this answers your questions.
n8n is not open-source.
