Cannot find "This workflow can be called by" option in the sub-workflow settings

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to configure the execution of one workflow from another. I’ve read that I need to modify the setting “This workflow can be called by” in the sub-workflow, but I can’t find this parameter anywhere on the screen.

References:

I imagine once I can access that setting, I can follow the rest of the tutorial on “Execute Workflow Trigger.”

Thanks in advance for your help!

Information on your n8n setup

  • n8n version: 1.54.4
  • Database (default: SQLite):
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main):
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): Docker
  • Operating system:

Hi @Valkys

I think you cannot modify this without a license or using n8n cloud(pro).
So the setting is probably not showing because of that.
Could be that you need an n8n update, but you are fairly recent so do not think that is it.

Additional info:
This is because collaboration is not possible on the community version. So you cannot share workflows/credentials with eachother. So also not execute workflows of others. (as far as I know)

Hi @BramKn,

Thanks for the response! That’s what I was suspecting, that a license would be required, but I hadn’t found clear information about it.

I’ll therefore call my workflow using a webhook instead of this method. That will work for my use case!

Have a great day!
Thanks again!

Hi @Valkys

If they are yours you can simply call them with the execute workflow node.
Just cannot set the option to allow workflows from others to call your workflow.
