Checking if value in of today's date is < or > previous date's value

I am wondering if anyone could provide some guidance here - I’m relatively new to the platform and having some trouble getting things going. I am trying to trigger a slack notification for a certain column of a google sheet which checks the value of today’s date and compares it to yesterday’s date. If the value is > or < yesterday’s value, it triggers a slack notification to certain people.
