Code node Task Runner timeout on n8n Cloud 2.37.1

My Code node is failing with:

“Task request timed out — Your Code node task was not matched to a runner within the timeout period.”

This happens even with a brand-new Code node containing only:

return [{ json: { test: "Hello" } }];

I am using n8n Cloud.

Debug information:

  • n8n version: 2.37.1
  • Platform: Docker (cloud)
  • Node.js: 26.5.1
  • Execution mode: regular
  • Instance count: 1
  • Cluster checks: all succeeded

n8n Cloud Status is currently showing normal.

Please help me check why my Code node Task Runner is not accepting tasks.

Nothing is wrong with your runner. 2.37.1 breaks the JavaScript Code node, which is why a bare return fails exactly like a real script does and why the status page looks clean:

2.37.1 reaches you through the Beta track. In the Cloud admin dashboard open Manage > Workspace > Updates & maintenance, set Release track to Stable and change the version to 2.36.7, which predates the break. It restarts for a minute or two and only the instance owner can do it. 2.37.3 is also out on Beta and carries the fix if you would rather move forward.
