Hello n8n team and community,
I’m experiencing a critical issue while trying to activate the free license for the Community Edition. Every time I attempt to register using the activation prompt (via email), I receive the following error:
Additionally, the status page https://status.n8n.io
is not accessible and returns a DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE
error, indicating a DNS resolution failure.
After investigating further, I noticed multiple major incidents reported on the status page recently, including prolonged downtime (e.g., incident on May 28 lasting nearly 2 days). These outages seem to be affecting the license registration and renewal endpoints.
Steps Taken:
- Tried skipping license registration → n8n works but shows repeated warnings.
- Set the environment variable
N8N_HIDE_LICENSE_WARNING=true
as a temporary workaround. - Confirmed that outgoing internet requests from my environment are functioning properly.
Suggested Resolutions:
- Investigate and stabilize the license registration service (API endpoint timeout issues).
- Provide a fallback or offline method to activate the Community Edition.
- Improve visibility and transparency on outages (status page DNS issues).
- Allow community users to bypass license check cleanly during outages.
- Optionally send signed license keys via email for manual entry.
This issue is blocking many users from activating essential features. A timely fix would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support!
