Community Edition License Registration Fails with 524 Error — Urgent Issue

Hello n8n team and community,

I’m experiencing a critical issue while trying to activate the free license for the Community Edition. Every time I attempt to register using the activation prompt (via email), I receive the following error:

Additionally, the status page https://status.n8n.io is not accessible and returns a DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE error, indicating a DNS resolution failure.

After investigating further, I noticed multiple major incidents reported on the status page recently, including prolonged downtime (e.g., incident on May 28 lasting nearly 2 days). These outages seem to be affecting the license registration and renewal endpoints.

:wrench: Steps Taken:

  • Tried skipping license registration → n8n works but shows repeated warnings.
  • Set the environment variable N8N_HIDE_LICENSE_WARNING=true as a temporary workaround.
  • Confirmed that outgoing internet requests from my environment are functioning properly.

:pushpin: Suggested Resolutions:

  1. Investigate and stabilize the license registration service (API endpoint timeout issues).
  2. Provide a fallback or offline method to activate the Community Edition.
  3. Improve visibility and transparency on outages (status page DNS issues).
  4. Allow community users to bypass license check cleanly during outages.
  5. Optionally send signed license keys via email for manual entry.

This issue is blocking many users from activating essential features. A timely fix would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your support!
