Error Workflow not being triggered

Dear n8n gurus,

I have a workflow that is failing and the assigned “Error workflow” is not being triggered.

This is the workflow (which is designed to failed :wink: ):

And below you can see the workflow seetings:

And this is my error workflow that for some reason is not being triggered:

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your support!

Information on our n8n setup

  • n8n version: 1.21.0
  • Database (default: SQLite): postgresql 14.8
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main): queue
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): kubernetes
  • Operating system: amazon linuex

Hi @Fortian

Errors only trigger with active/background workflows.
That said, there is a bug that is solved in 1.24 not sure if it was there in 1.21 but it was in 1.22 and 1.23.
