German Word bot for Twitter, Mastodon & Bsky (+ Mastodon to n8n tutorial!)

So in an attempt to make my German vocabulary learning more regular and accessible I decided to make this little bot on Twitter, Mastodon and Bluesky. I would say I’m around the B2 level which is why the vocabulary level is around the B2-C1 range.

Some features of the bot:

  • posts around 12 words per day with its english meaning, because generally language teachers recommend learning around 15 new words per day
  • also includes an example sentence to see how the word is used in context. (I would’ve put the example sentence translation as well, but usually it would make the post too long and a lot of the API’s don’t really support multi-posts from what I know)

For beginner level I feel like a lot of resources are already there for this range… but if there’s enough demand for it I may make one? :woman_shrugging:t2:

Anyway here is the link to the bots for anyone that’s interested:

I hope this aids in someone’s language learning somehow. I know people can see social media as a cesspool for negativity, but I believe it an be used in helpful ways too.

If you have any suggestions on how I could make this bot better, please let me know.

(and before I forget! The words come from the vocabulary lists of Im Beruf NEU & the Deutsch Intensiv Wortschatz series. I think German vocabulary lists are hard to come by, but I think the vocabulary lists from these books are really helpful, so if anyone was looking for book recommendations for vocabulary I really like those books for it)

In addition to this I also made a Mastodon bot tutorial since it was part of this project. Just thought to do it and spare someone else the pain of figuring it out. :smiling_face_with_tear:
