How do I migrate my desktop workflows to the docker version?

Describe the problem/error/question

How do I migrate my desktop workflows to the docker version?

Non of my old workflows show up in the Docker version I am running now due to deprecation of the desktop app.

Please share your workflow

(Select the nodes on your canvas and use the keyboard shortcuts CMD+C/CTRL+C and CMD+V/CTRL+V to copy and paste the workflow.)

Share the output returned by the last node

Information on your n8n setup

  • n8n version: 0.216.2
  • **Database (default: SQLite): unknown/Airtable
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main): default
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): desktop app & Docker
  • Operating system: Windows 10 Pro 22H1

If you run both locally and use the default Docker command, they should show up directly.

It has been over four (4) hours since I started n8n using Dockers and still no wowrkflows are showing up.

Ah yes, they will either be there the second you open n8n, or they will never be there.

In this case please provide additional information. Like for example how do you start n8n via Docker and literally all the information we ask by default under “Information on your n8n setup”.

Jan,
I edited my Question and added the “Information on my n8n setup” as requested.

Hi @fdavidg, can you confirm which command exactly you are using to run n8n docker?

I think the one from our documentation will use the .n8n directory in the default WSL users’ home directory, but the desktop app would use a path under C:\Users... instead.

I am just firing up my old Windows machine to verify this, but perhaps in the meantime you Edit: That (virtual) machine no longer works the way I want it to. I still believe this could be a Docker on Windows oddity, so it’d be great if you can try running docker run -it --rm --name n8n -p 5678:5678 -v C:\Users\fdavidg\.n8n:/home/node/.n8n docker.n8n.io/n8nio/n8n on your side (replacing fdavidg with your actual Windows username)?
