I built a social media content automation system with n8n

HI Everyone,
I’ve been working on a social media automation workflow in n8n and finally got the whole thing working end to end.

The problem I wanted to solve was pretty simple — having content ready to post but not always having the time to manually publish it across different platforms.

So I built a workflow that handles the whole process.

It includes:

  • Content management
  • AI content processing
  • Scheduling
  • Social media integrations
  • Automatic publishing
  • A dashboard to manage and monitor everything

The basic idea is:

Add your content → schedule it → let n8n handle the publishing.

I also connected the social media APIs and tested the publishing flow end to end.

Sharing it here because I thought it might be useful for anyone working on something similar. I’d also love to hear how you guys are approaching social media automation with n8n.

If anyone wants to discuss the workflow or build something similar, feel free to reach out:

Built with n8n + APIs + AI

Nice work. The dashboard part is what caught my attention. One thing I’m curious about: how are you handling failed publishes?

For example, if a platform API times out or returns a temporary error, do you retry automatically and track the post status centrally, or does it go back into a review queue?

That’s usually the part that gets interesting once the workflow starts processing larger volumes of content.

Getting the initial n8n pipeline to run is satisfying, but keeping API tokens alive across 4 different social networks is where the maintenance headache usually starts.

What saved my sanity was splitting the duties: n8n handles the raw data aggregation and drafting, then hands the approved bundle to blotato for the actual delivery and queue management. Much easier to maintain long term.

Thanks! That’s actually something I’ve been thinking about as well. For failed publishes, I’m handling the workflow so temporary API errors can be retried automatically, while the post status is tracked centrally in the dashboard. If a post keeps failing after the retry attempts, it can be flagged for manual review rather than getting lost. I’m still refining that part as I scale the workflow.

Absolutely, that’s one of the biggest challenges once you start connecting multiple platforms. I like the idea of separating the content workflow from the actual delivery layer. Keeping n8n focused on aggregation, AI processing, and approvals while using a dedicated tool for publishing and queue management definitely makes the system easier to maintain. Thanks for sharing that approach — I’ll have to look into Blotato as well.

This is a solid workflow. I’ve been working with n8n workflows as well, mainly connecting different systems and automating processes end to end.

I like how you’ve structured it around content management → AI processing → scheduling → publishing, since keeping everything within one workflow makes it much easier to monitor.

One thing I’ve found important is handling exceptions, especially failed API calls or incomplete data, so the workflow doesn’t silently fail. How are you handling retries and error notifications in this setup?
