Hi n8n team,

I’m having an issue activating my license key.

Here’s what happened:

  • I clicked to start the 14-day free trial on n8n.io.
  • Right after that, I installed n8n locally on my PC.
  • I received a license key by email.
  • But when I try to activate it on my local instance, I get the following error:

Activation failed – Activation key has already been used on this instance.

I believe the trial version was automatically activated using my email, but I don’t have access to the Pro features (like user management, roles, etc.). And now I can’t manually activate the key.

The issue is that I have 14 days to activate the license, but also a 14-day free trial, so I’m worried I’ll lose the chance to use the key properly.

Could you please:

  1. Either reset the key so I can activate it manually,
  2. Or confirm if my local instance is already activated despite the error message.

That free trial is for the n8n cloud version. There was a field called “Account name” with which you can access it.
