License Inquiry

Hello,
We would like to ask a few questions regarding n8n’s licensing.

We are a company that provides ERP implementation services in an on-premise environment.
We are planning to build a chatbot using n8n that can respond to ERP-related questions.
The chatbot will be developed in the form of an API, powered by n8n workflows.

Question 1:
Would it violate the license policy if we install the n8n Community Edition on a customer’s internal server and configure it so they can use the chatbot?
We believe it does not violate the license policy, but we would like to confirm.

=>Providing consulting services related to n8n, for example building workflows, custom features closely connect to n8n, or code that gets executed by n8n.

Question 2:
If the approach described in Question 1 is considered a license violation, would it be acceptable to develop the chatbot using the n8n Pro version and provide it in the form of an API?

First, welcome to the community @inhwan!

Question 1: No, it would not. So it is totally fine.
Question 2: No need to answer as it is not a violation of our license.

I have an additional question.
If we install the n8n Community Edition on our company’s cloud server and use that n8n server to provide APIs to our clients, would that be a violation of the license policy?

If it is just APIs that should be fine.
If you connect to APIs of your clients with their credentials then you need a license.

Exactly as @BramKn said. Thanks.

Thank you for your response.
I’m having a bit of trouble understanding your explanation—could you please provide a simple example?
Thank you in advance for your continued kindness.
