Last week marked the first, long-awaited community meetup in the UK! Simon Bocca organized the event at a beautiful venue in central London.
Between 20 and 30 people attended, though some arrived late due to London traffic. The meetup was a bit chaotic in its first edition, as we were all so excited to chat with each other that we started the presentations later than planned.
We had three presentations scheduled, but we were also treated to a bonus fourth presentation by the one and only Jim Le.
• Simon Bocca kicked off the event with a presentation on the hyperautomation strategy of Paycaptain. He talked about building a company focused on automating as much as possible and, of course, how n8n played a key role in this strategy.
• Bram Knuever shared insights about the n8n dashboard he is developing. While he had already demoed the dashboard in Amsterdam, this time he explained why he created it and provided more technical details. He also showcased the new UI he is working on for the dashboard.
After a short pizza break, we continued with more presentations:
• Viraj from the n8n team demonstrated some amazing use cases for using AI, such as summarizing Reddit posts and creating podcasts from them. The quality of the podcasts blew us away! Bram, who co-hosts the Unofficial n8n Spotlight, joked that the AI could take over hosting duties from him and Mario.
• Jim Le wrapped up the presentations by showcasing tests he had run with the new Code Node Task Runners. He demonstrated how powerful this change is with practical use cases, highlighting it as a real game-changer for those using the Code Node and for the overall stability of n8n. Feedback and Thoughts for Next Time
• Finding the Venue: Some attendees found the venue hard to locate as it was in a large event building, and we didn’t have any signage. While there was a host from the venue, they weren’t always at the entrance to guide people. Next time, clearer directions or signage will help!
• Splitting Presentations: Splitting the presentations into two parts worked well with this group size. However, it might not be as effective with a larger audience.
• Chaotic but Fun: Despite the chaos, the event turned out well.
• Photos: We completely forgot to take photos during the event! Thankfully, a few were shared by attendees, but we’ll make this a priority next time.
