Describe the problem/error/question

Whenever I try to connect to MCP server from n8n using the MCP client node and when I select the tools as “selected”, I see a message “Set up credential to see options“. I have verified the MCP server and the server does not have any kind of authentication in place.

What is the error message (if any)?

  • n8n version: 1.110.0
  • Database (default: SQLite): Postgres
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): self hosted (docker)
  • Operating system: windows

Hi @SanB08 , Even though your server has no authentication, you still need to set up a credential: so create a “No Auth” or basic credential.
