Hello guys, I just have a question. I’d like to start using this n8n, but I’m so confused about whether I should self-host or purchase n8n cloud. Going forward, I’ll use it long term in my office if it’s good. Thank you in advance.
Hello Felix_otto, welcome to n8n Community! I’ll try my best to help yaa.
Maybe its all about your priorities. If you using n8n cloud, you just got like:
- Managed hosting by the n8n team (no server setup, no upgrades to worry about).
- Comes with support, SSL, scaling and security handled.
- Includes a free trial about 1 week so you can test everything before deciding.
- Best if you want to focus on building workflows, not maintaining infrastructure.
If you want to select self-host, you just got like:
- Free if you host on your own server.
- Full control over data, plugins, and integrations.
- You handle setup, server costs, updates, backups, monitoring, etc
If you’re just getting started and want quick reliability, you can try n8n cloud trial first, but if you have IT/DevOps resources and want more flexibility or lower cost at scale, just go self-host
Its depends on your priorities.
Maybe thats all i can share, hope this information will works for you ![]()

Hi @Felix_otto
Cloud is a lot easier to get going. (you dont have to do anything, just sign up)
Selfhosting you can easily do when familiar with Docker and hosting your own things.
If you have no experience with self hosting you could possibly have a security risk or lose your work.
Hello @Felix_otto,
If you’re looking for ease and less hassle, go with n8n Cloud – it handles updates and scaling for you. If you want full control and plan to customize a lot, self-hosting is the way to go. It’s more cost-effective long-term, but requires some tech management.
Thank you for your answer, with various different purposes for insight. I will try with a trial first. Thanks again
Sure, and if you dont mind, you can mark as solution. Thanks! ![]()
