🌟 New Workflow Drop: Extract Contacts from Business Cards to Google Sheets with GPT-4o 🌟

We all know the feeling, you attend a conference, networking event, or client meeting, and come back with a stack of business cards. A week later, they’re either sitting forgotten on your desk or you’ve spent hours manually typing names, emails, and phone numbers into your CRM or spreadsheet.

So I decided to automate the process with n8n + GPT-4o + Google Sheets, and here’s what the workflow does:

:wrench: What this workflow does

  1. Capture the card

You upload an image of a business card (from your phone, email, or any storage service).

  2. Extract contact details with GPT-4o

Using GPT-4o’s multimodal capabilities, the workflow reads the card image and intelligently extracts structured data like:

    • Name

    • Job Title

    • Email Address

    • Phone Number

    • Company

  3. Store into Google Sheets

The parsed information is automatically added into a Google Sheet—perfect for organizing your leads, syncing with CRMs, or sharing with your team.

:rocket: Why this is useful

  • Save time: No more manual data entry.

  • Stay organized: Contacts go straight into a structured database.

  • Scalable: Works for a handful of cards or hundreds from an event.

  • Customizable: You can easily adapt it to push data into Notion, Airtable, or your CRM instead of Sheets.

:high_voltage: How you can use or extend it

  • Connect with Slack or email so contacts are instantly shared with your sales team.

  • Send follow-up messages automatically after adding new leads.

  • Add data validation (e.g., check if an email already exists before saving).

  • Use tags or categories to group contacts by event or source.
