Newb Questions on what classifies as a project

We are self hosting n8n but wanted to be able to share a workflow with a coworker. We are getting started with n8n so we wanted to work together on workflows, share credentials, etc. Didn’t see a way to do that in our current instance.

Question 1: If we start paying for the starter plan, it says it’s Hosted by n8n, can we use it on self hosted instances?

Question 2: What is a Project? Is that a bunch of workflows that we package together or is that a single workflow?

Also, if these don’t belong on the forum, let me know. Seemed to be the best/easiest way to contact anyone at n8n for billing support.

What you are referring here is n8n Cloud, and i didnt actually understood your question very well, but n8n cloud is different from n8n self hosted version. Although you can copy paste workflows ofc but they are different in terms of features also.

A project is a enterprise level feature within n8n which you can get on n8n cloud via enterprise also via a self hosted n8n enterprise license, a project is a kind of grouped workspace and you are right but the credentials are also seperated there and also variables are different , the agenda for those is to make easier for teams to work together.

Thanks for the response! For my first question, I’m mainly trying to figure out if there is a self hosted license available that isn’t $800+ a month with added features we are missing as self hosted users. I might need to contact Sales about the price.

@claytonRIT33 the actual price is really hard to say, you should use the given links to reach out to cloud, i suppose that would be more expensive than that… And if you do not care about enterprise level license the community edition is also good, ALSO the cloud business plan is also considerable according to the budget.
