Node Decompress - Don't know how to access files from zip

Describe the issue/error/question

Node Decompress - I see the zip in n8n, tab Binary → item 0 → 3 files ( file_0 → file_3 )
I tried everything to access it from spreadsheet or ‘write binary file’
data
data[0]
data[0][‘binary’]
data[0][‘binary’][file_0’]
file_0
import.txt → (filename in zip)

Please share the workflow

just unzip a public zip file with multiple files in it.

Share the output returned by the last node

// no output only compress node give 1 item as output. although it has 3 items in the file.

Information on your n8n setup

  • n8n version: latest
  • Database you’re using (default: SQLite): : default npm install SQLLite ?
  • Running n8n with the execution process [own(default), main]: n8n
  • Running n8n via [npm]: shell

as you can see: data[0].binary[‘file_0’] i need. CSV: TXT tab seperated item

Hi @aswinc, welcome to the community :tada:

I am not sure I fully understand your problem - from looking at your screenshot it seems you do have a single item but it has a total of four binary files attached to it (named file_0, file_1 and so on).

Trying to read file_1 from your example (“filespec.xls”) should work like so in the Spreadsheet File node (provided your Spreadsheet File node is connected to your Compression node returning file_1):

Now Spreadsheet File doesnt exist anymore and the substitutes (“Convert to File” and “Extract from File”)do not have a filter “Binary Property”.

So this used to work. And now it doesnt anymore.

any ideas how to access one file within a zip that contains many files and parse the data of that file?
