OpenAI Node hangs on Hostinger VPS (DNS is OK)

Hello,

I’m running n8n on a Hostinger VPS, installed via the portainer-packtypebot script. My OpenAI node hangs indefinitely on execution, it never finishes or returns an error.

Here is the troubleshooting I have already done:

  1. Confirmed my OpenAI API Key and Billing are correct and active.
  2. The host VPS has perfect connectivity. curl -v https://api.openai.com/v1/models from the host server works and returns the expected 401 error.
  3. DNS resolution inside the n8n container works. The command docker exec n8n-n8n-1 nslookup openai.com successfully returns the correct IP addresses for openai.com.
  4. A full docker restart n8n-n8n-1 and even a full server reboot did not solve the issue.

Since the host can connect and the container can resolve DNS, but the application’s HTTPS request hangs, this strongly suggests a Docker networking issue, possibly related to MTU size or a similar low-level network problem on the Hostinger platform.

Could anyone provide guidance on the next steps to debug or fix Docker’s network configuration for this environment?
