On September 24, 2024, we hosted an intimate n8n workshop for young tech enthusiasts in Poland. Despite having 8 sign-ups, we had a cozy group of 4 dedicated participants, allowing for a more personalized learning experience.
Workshop Focus
The workshop centered on prototyping and introducing basic concepts of n8n. Our primary goal was to help participants create their first workflows, equipping them with skills they could apply in hackathons and real-world scenarios.
Activities and Integrations
During the 3-hour session, we explored various n8n features and integrations:
- Weather API integration
- Discord bot creation
- Spreadsheet data reading
- Chart image generation
- HTTP requests (handling both binary and JSON responses)
A highlight of the workshop was a practical exercise where participants created a workflow to fetch weather data, generate an image, and post it to Discord.
Participant Feedback
The response from attendees was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed surprise at the ease of use of n8n, with comments indicating they were “shocked it can be THAT easy.” This feedback was particularly gratifying and highlighted the potential impact of n8n in simplifying complex workflows.
Reflections and Future Plans
While the turnout was smaller than expected, the intimate setting allowed for deeper engagement and learning. The enthusiasm of the participants and their quick grasp of n8n concepts were encouraging.
The feedback received also indicated areas for improvement, which we’re excited to incorporate into future workshops. This experience has shown us the value of hands-on, practical sessions in teaching automation tools like n8n.
We’re planning to organize an improved edition of this workshop soon, taking into account the lessons learned and participant feedback from this session. Our goal is to refine the content and delivery to make the n8n learning experience even more impactful and accessible.
Thank you to n8n for the excellent tool, and most importantly, to our enthusiastic participants who made this workshop a success!
