hello Community members, I am a technology consultant for non-profits. I was contemplating for setting up a local instance of n8n for a ministry of health for integrating their digital health systems. Do I need to be worried on any licensing clauses of n8n. Can they use it as open-source if they are fine with all the features with self-hosted n8n. They will not white-label or sell it as service. It’s for their own internal purposes. But i will be compensated for setting-up tasks i do.
@Jins_Thomas youre fine, n8ns Sustainable Use License allows self-hosted use for internal business purposes (exactly the ministrys case) and explicitly allows being paid for setup and consulting, no separate license needed. the only restricted bits are white-labeling n8n or hosting it as a paid service for others, neither of which youre doing. one note, core self-hosted is free but a few features (SSO, RBAC, log streaming) need a paid Enterprise license key, so its not literally all-features-free. for a govt deployment id just confirm with n8n directly if you need it in writing.
