Removing Docker Images of Previous n8n Versions

Describe the problem/error/question

I discovered that my Docker configuration had numerous old and very large dangling n8n images which I just pruned and cleaned up ~31 GB in space!

Can I also remove Docker images of previous n8n versions without harm?

Information on your n8n setup

  • n8n version: 1.26.0
  • Database (default: SQLite): SQLite
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main): main
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): Docker

In my experience - you can remove them. You should keep in mind your own situation - meaning - if you update / upgrade and delete the “old” version - you would need to redownload / build it in case you would like to go back.
