I self host n8n on VPS server. Community plan seems enough for building automations, but it doesn’t let me add collaborators. How to provide isolated environment (folder/project) on the same instance of n8n in this case? The key factor for me is segregating access and keeping certain workflows private. Paying $20 just for being able to do that seems unreasonable
I think going with multiple docker containers (instances) of n8n will be best here. Some with shared access, some with personal access as needed. There aren’t a lot of options unfortunately.
Found what seems to be easier solution - adding multiple member accounts, each of them will have it’s own personal workspace. At first I didn’t realize that ‘members‘ can indeed be added in community plan, only ‘admins’ can not
Yes, this addresses the private workflows per user. So for shared ones you could have them work on the same account, but that could cause issues if they try editing the same thing or forget refreshing a workflow someone else edited, etc.
Only way to colaborate on serlfhosted is to get a license. The business plan is the cheapest option. It is more expensive than 20. But there is a discount for startups. But that still is higher than 20.
