Self hosting (Digital Ocean) Connecting Gmail credential issue

Hi guys,

I recently decided to setup n8n on digital ocean. And I’m currently facing an issue where Im seeing the
http://n8n.sigmaschool.co:5678/rest/oauth2-credential/callback (:5678) in my OAuth Redirect URL, which I dont see in other people’s guide to connecting Gmail Credentials using - self hosted (Digital Ocean)

It seems to always timeout in the Login to google page, after clicking allow…. I’ve set up everything on google side correctly. Just wanted to double check with everyone here if the :5678 is supposed to be there? I see its some local host server?

Would love if someone could point me in a right direction to approach this. Thanks again!

You need to make sure that your instance is accessible via HTTPS like: https://n8n.sigmaschool.co

This can be achieved in different ways, the most common is to setup a reverse proxy that handles SSL or to change the env variables for protocol, host, etc. accordingly and install ssl cerssl certificates yourself:

I dont know about the specifics of your digital ocean setup, but maybe there is an easy way to setup a reverse proxy.
