The turnout to the event was a pleasant surprise. From the first meetup where 3 people showed up to this one with 130! Registrations.
The turnout according to the checked in people in the Luma App was 75 People, a few didn’t have the QR code or the scan didn’t work, speakers and owner of the venue where also not counted so I guess we where at round about 85 - 90 People.
Which is insane for Vienna, got the same feedback from a few people, nobody really expected this turnout.
The Venue - Das Packhaus - was perfect for the event. There was also a camera we could use and we did record everything, will need a few days to get the Audio synced.
We had three talks:
- ​Voice-controlled calendar assistant (Beniamin Hutyra)
- Web scraping with n8n (Nadia Privalikhina)
- What the hell is MCP? (Cristian Livadaru)
Food and drinks where welcomed and managed to get all 240 Sandwiches taken care of.
Lessons learned
- Have a backup phone, possibly with other OS somewhere handy to check in incoming people. My assistant had an Andorid phone and after the first checkin the App kept crashing trying to checkin other people.
- Having someone there to handle checkin was a huge relief. 90% did show up on time, but still a few people that came later and having to handle check in while giving a presentation is tricky.
- Think about privacy, especially in Europe. We had one person asking not to have pictures taken. Should have been prepared for this, it’s Austria after all. Will think about solutions for the next time. An obligatory “I consent to images” would not be permitted. People need to be allowed to chose. One solution could be to have “No Photo” badges, this would require some option for people to chose upfront.
One funny coincidence, the Venue placed a sign on the street about the n8n event and someone actually using n8n not knowing about the event saw it and joined 
.
Ideas for the next time
- Catering can be offered by the venue, no need for sandwiches to be picked up.
- Search for that bloody HDMI Cable a day in advance!
- Address enterprise / business editions and get someone from n8n on a live stream.
- data privacy with AI is a big thing. Got a volunteer as speaker for the next event about running n8n with ollama.
