Great idea! Totally agree that AI generated answers would harm the community and quality of the forum. However, an Ai helper would still provide incredible value. WASP, another YC backed startup, have solved this great in their discord with their ai Kapa. The way they have set it up is that when someone askes a questions, the ai support bot answers automatically, providing some real time help, and often that can resolve it already, but eventually a human support staff will also check in, provide more detailed help if its still needed, or close the questions.

Good to read

A post was split to a new topic: Turns any article into a structured Notion note

Me thinks, the idea to protect this space from thoughtless, automated spam. No doubt as such it could be a substantial threat to human community.

However, as a policy would certainly cross the line when it bans formatting. The fact that we ā€œcan’t tell the differenceā€ between a well-formatted human post and a clean machine post is exactly why any sort of blanket ban fails. It forces us to run the community on suspicion rather than trust.

Humans have always used tools to shape our thoughts, from the printing press to autocorrect. If a member brings real-world experience, critical judgment, and original insight to a thread, the soul of that post is human! even if they used a tool to fix their grammar or organize their paragraphs.

Let’s judge posts by the depth of the intellect behind them, not by how rough or unpolished the text is. Forcing people to write like old-school typewriters doesn’t make the community more human; it just makes it harder to read.

Just say’n

@Gary_Shepard from personal experience, I don’t think @bartv issue is neccesiarly AI. I’m sure n8n uses AI a lot to help them with their projects probably, tho I’m not sure, they have a good team. What I’m trying to say is I believe the concern is people using AI to win anwser and earn rather than helping people, this forum is for us to come together and help people, but without guardrails and a lot of testing, AI is prone to spamming all over and saying slop.

You have a good point though.

We don’t ban formatting per se but it’s an important signal that we also take into account
