However, in my whole opinion, the real issue is when someone clearly exploited the rules or gamifies the system, for example, by posting one-liner replies to almost everything at specific time, replying to others with meaningless comments sometimes, and repeating this behavior for a while to gain a huge surge in points, then acting as if nothing happened.
I think the worst trait a person (In my opinion) can have is being capable and competent, yet completely lacking principles and a sense of fair play.
Once I saw that behavior, I completely withdrew myself, not because I canāt do it. In fact, itās much easier to post those kinds of comments. But doing so would hurt my profile and reputation. More importantly, I just canāt do it morally
In the end, integrity matters more than points or quick wins. Iād rather step back than compromise my values for short-term gains.
@mohamed3nan I agree with your sentiment and understand what you mean, but I think your point could be more specific.
I remember someone who needed help with a workflow that would wait for a complete answer instead of responding based on just one chat message. I feel this forumās questions often have the same issue. Many posts donāt provide the necessary context, which forces you to either ask for clarification or ignore the question entirely leading to unanswered posts.
I think @ThinkBotās suggestion is a good idea, with additional features like reply caps. And maybe more strict rules on posting for both sides.
Agreed with @Grot, if more standards are in place for the poster and reply-er, things could be more smooth. Just unsure how that will be āpolicedā.
Lots of posts I see are simply āhelp with xā and there is zero context nor showing of workflow. They often assume its a bug, when in reality after much back and forth / asking for the flow, I can pinpoint a misunderstanding of mapping/expression etc.
Emulation of SO style could help solve a lot of these issues. Including reply point farming and solution snipping, imo. Give small points to edited post approval (for clarifying question, editing misspellings), give small points to edits with citations of solutions to the documentation for improved backlinking and understanding of where solution came from etc.
Hello everyone, in my opinion, the sense of community and contributing with value and respect to others isnāt just a matter of looking at a points table for a monetary reward, which lends itself to foul play. But putting reputation and the desire to help aside, the time it takes to search for information on each case, references, and how to solve it isnāt a matter of minutes. There are different types of complexity and also requests for help that donāt seem to make sense.
Thereās a very direct relationship between the number of posts and the number of solutions, but in some cases, feedback is lacking, and the solution remains incomplete.
Iām new to the community. Iāve had to learn the rules, but the principle of respect for others and the dedication of each of you. I see very good contributions in the solutions, which only challenge me to improve my answers, even with the language barrier that sometimes causes confusion instead of solutions.
Iād like to reiterate here that weāre changing the rules to count only solutions from June 1 forward. And yes, thereās potential for abuse there too, but thatāll be the case in any system. Weāll make it clear that solution sniping will get you one warning, and then a removal from the leaderboard - but weāll have to rely on you reporting such issues.
I donāt think thereās much value in continuing this argument now - weāve discussed it, and we adjusted our rules in a way we feel is fair to everyone.
Am wondering how others are managing threads they replied on, but the OP didnt reply on? Iām thinking to reach out again to see if the issue is fixed / resolved, for example a thread that is 15 days old, no reply from OP and only one reply which was me providing potential solution.
I have a feeling to just untrack it and there no need to follow up, they may at somepoint reply idk
If anyone has some advise that be great, personally if it was a service desk, I would follow up and close. But seems probably can be left for auto close after 3month?
I think Iāll just move to normal tracking, as then I can still filter using ā@King_Samuel_David in:posted status:unsolvedā
btw, am filltering like this, becasue I need to see all threads am tracking / unresolved / am not last comment. To help with follow ups.
fyi I do get notification of replies, but sometimes they donāt tag you and because of so many replies it gets lost, so I want to find away to ensure all threads are replied on, espeically if they replied but I didnāt get notified etc.
Sorry I guess im just trying todo my best, and help.
Hey all, I wanted to share further that to provide the best support to all users, itās important to note that there are currently 261 open questions since April 1 that have not received any response at all.
Making sure every question gets a timely first reply is just as important as solving issues, so tracking and addressing these unanswered threads will help ensure everyone feels heard and supported in the community. Imagine if we had SLA agreements in place.
As we move to a solutions-based points system and improve follow-up processes, making sure no question goes without a response is essential to delivering the best support possible.
Hope everyone is good, and letās all contribute how we can. Itās not a one man band, but a team effort. Many people have thanked me for supporting them, at points I heard people say on discord, āNo one replies there anyways but Iāll still post itā about the community, so letās smash it, no solution sniping, help people as you can, and lets thrive.
Who knows, they may even increase the reward if we do well or maybe even get hired. Just saying
Hey everyone! As already mentioned before, Iām making some adjustments to the scoring system. To recap, we created the Answer & Earn program to make sure questions are answered as quickly and as thouroughly as possible. The financial reward introduced some risk for abuse - we saw some exampes of people using AI to generate (often incorrect) answers, or posting replies just to gather points. Iām simplifying the scoring and
From this month on, points are only awarded when:
Your reply is selected as the āsolutionā by the OP.
Your reply receives a ālikeā.
Of course, a solution gives more points than a like.
Iām also adding two new rules:
Do not use AI to generate or format your answers (we canāt tell the difference, so both are disallowed).
Only join a conversation if you have something substantial to contribute - like a genuine attempt to solve the issue, or asking for clarification when essential information is missing.
No āsolution snipingā - related to the point above, donāt repeat solutions or add minimal information to try and get the solution in your name.
Play fair. This is subjective, but you know when youāre not
If you see anyone repeatedly breaking the rules or otherwise trying to game the system, please flag the reply, mark it as āotherā and add a note for the team to review. Weāll issue one warning if you break the rules, and exclude you from the leaderboard after that. (Of course flagging can be abused too - I suggest you donāt try that ).
Hi,
since yesterday I am noticing that my kudos have suddenly dropped (about 60) and I am not being recorded in todayās leaderboard.
Is there a problem with this?
Iāve reported some posts that seems very likely ai geneated and Iāve explained my reasoning why I believe this, can this be further monitored please.
Iām one of the new members of this world. I think that one factor that is responsible for this āboomā is the AI platforms. I know n8n just because Gemini tells me it is a good way to handle an automated workflow (self-hosted on Windows) that I want to create. But I know nothing about automation (a little about programming, but it is not the case), and it seems that IA does not know enough to help people like me. So they (and I) are falling here to get answers that Search engines, YouTube Videos, IA, and others do not have an answer yet.
I hope to get answers here. Iām going to post a topic about my problem today. Thanks to this community for caring about us, newbies.
