As far as I can tell there are these groups you can assign to a node in its desription: ‘trigger’, ‘input’, ‘transform’ and ‘output’.
It seems to be that ‘trigger’ is reserved only for trigger nodes.
But what are those other types for. How would I go about which to chose?
And what consequences does this choice have?

Hey, @quansenB Hope you’re doing great.
As you said, n8n has a ton of nodes for different 3rd party SaaS tools or Web Applications. Which are categorized into that respective group.
For Example Google Analytics node fall into the Analytics category. Same for S3 which is storage, so it’s grouped into Data & Storage one.
If you’re concerned about which one to pick, Searchbox comes in handy. You can pick the node which is needed for your use case.
Hope this answers your question

Hi,
Thanks for reaching out
I was actually referring to another group:
(The group in the node description, usually it’s placed near the top.)
Do you know what this is about aswell?

Hi @quansenB, so after checking on this internally, it seems this particular group
parameter was only ever used for trigger nodes, so unless you are building a trigger node you could ignore it
Its functionality of grouping nodes in the UI has been taking over by JSON files (like this one for example).
