Why is make.com able to do simple things and N8N can't?

Ok, so I had an automation which added all clickup events with due dates to my outlook calendar. And if I removed them from clickup they where removed from Outlook. And if I updated them in clickup they were updated in Outlook. Really simple stuff. Was done in about 30 minutes and worked like a charm. Only the pricing of Make.com is just not worth it for 1 simple automation.

So I went on a search and found N8N, which looked promising. But after trying for hours and hours. It just not works. It is impossible to make the same as make.com has. It starts with the fact that N8N can’t really record changes made in clickup since last run. So I have to trigger on every single possible clickup thing. Then the whole hell breaks loose, I get data which I have to filter, change, make nice, etc. Before I can get it anywhere near Outlook. And when I got anything inside outlook, the timezone was wrong and the whole struggle started over again. For which I found a workaround. But after I got something in Outlook I made a change to an existing clickup task and well you guessed it, it did not made it’s way into outlook, no I have to create a whole new automation for that, with all the filters and everything on it. What a waste of time this show is.

Some people prefer an iphone level tool, and others prefer an oscilloscope level tool. The analogy is far from perfect, but I think you’ve just realized that n8n operates at a lower level, and trades off simplicity for granularity/flexibility. …and the pricing options are better.

I don’t think your correct. I’m not convinced N8N is capable of doing more then make.com in this case. So my conclusion is that the integration of outlook and ClickUp are just not that great.

Probably make fits your needs better so no need to switch over to n8n.

Well there is a need. It has two sides. 1. The need to keep data local (or at least not on too many cloud services). 2. The cost. Make.com is not cheap at all.
