Can not active free n8n license key when self host Community Edition

Hello everyone. I’m quite new to self host n8n so hope you guys can help me here. I’m self hosting my n8n Community Edition in AWS instance and right after the setup/registration I received email " Your free n8n license key to unlock selected paid features"

I follow the link to active the key but when i active it, n8n send me this error message: Activation failed -Activation key has already been used on this instance. Also it shows tags [Registered] & tooltip message: “You have registered your email to unlock additional features on your community plan”

I used n8n cloud tried before but I’ve never activated any key. This is the first time I register this key in my self host instance, I still not active or select any pro feature for Community Edition and now I still have 2 more days to active this key.

I don’t know what’s going on? Would be nice if anyone have this same issue perhaps have a way to fix or restart the redeem process? Thanks guy!

Here is my n8n setups:

  • n8n version: Version 1.82.3
  • Running n8n via: Docker
  • Operating system: ubuntu

This already should activate n8n, no need to enter the key,
That link should have already activated n8n, so there’s no need to enter the key manually.

Thanks for your reply, just one more question:

My Friend who uses the exact same setup with me (both using free plan) also activated his key, now in his n8n he can access to the rating & tag for Executions, and the most important is “Debug in editor” (Like i showing in this photo)

But mine doesn’t have it, when click on “Debug in editor” n8n ask me to upgrade to use that feature. I wonder if this feature unlocked by the free activation process or did I have to do something else to unlock it?

I’m not sure if this is a key-related issue, especially if you registered with the same email you used for the cloud version.

Maybe try entering the activation key again…
