Is n8n the right fit for my usecase?

Sorry if this is not the correct place to ask this question. I could not find a Discord or I would have asked the question there.

I am looking for an open source (I want to self host it) cron scheduler. My use case is as follows:
A user creates a “monitor” and the a new cron job on the n8n instance. The user can check status of job, whether it is running etc from the UI.

Is n8n the right fit for me? I see that it has a “schedule trigger” feature and an API so in theory it should be doable. But I would like the community to confirm anyway.
