Issue with variable in Agent Tools

Hey, so I was building this AI agent that sends emails and I basically have an AI agent connected to Gmail as a two, but for some reason, I cannot pass variables. I know that I can use the automatic one or “from Ai” but I want to understand why what I tried is not working.

The $json pulls data from the previous node. Could you share your full workflow so we can help you debug it? Also, did you try using {{ $('AI Agent').item.json.subject }}?
